For those of you that don't know and may be interested, I'm going to be moving to New York very soon; in fact, Friday is my last day at work. Since I've kind of gotten tired of answering the same questions over and over and over and over I thought I'd include this handy Moving FAQ:
Q: You're moving to New York?
A: Yes.
Q: Why?
A: I found a nice new job there and I'm sick of Dayton.
Q: Where in New York? In New York City?
A: No. Monsey.
Q: Where?
A: *tired sigh* It's just north of New Jersey.
Q: *blank look* Oh. So are you going to live in New York City?
A: No. I'll actually be living in Middletown.
Q: Where?
A: *dirty look*
Q: Oh, um, okay then, have you got a place to live?
A: No, I was just going to sleep in a cardboard box. Of course I do.
Q: Are you excited?
A: Yes.
Q: So what are you going to be doing?
A: I'll be the Production Manager at a medical transcription firm.
Q: I didn't know you did medical transcription.
A: I don't. Note the Manager part of that job description.
Q: Oh, so you'll be like, managing people?
A: Something very like that, yes. Practically identical.
Q: So how'd you find this job?
A: I know people that know people.
Q: Do you think you'll miss Dayton?
A: Is this a trick question?
Q: So, um, are you excited?
A: Well I was.
If you can think of any other inane questions I haven't answered, feel free to send me a message.

So, where did you learn transcription? D'oh! Missed that one...
Congratulations on finding the new job, and for getting to relocate in the process! I hope the job and the move turn out even better than you hope they will.
Thanks, Gus, I really AM excited. It's my big Adventure. It's like Mr. Smith Goes To Washington. Only, you know, not like that at all. :)
Q: Medical transcription. Uhm, that's like helping foreign doctors who don't talk English, right?
Welcome to the People's Republic of NY. Just to let you know there is at least one other Objectivist around these parts, though I'm much further Upstate. Wishing you much success, but not more than me :-)
Sincerely
Random guy from Objectivism Online.
Thanks, Ryan. There are actually quite a few Objectivists here as far as I know. Maybe we can hang out sometime. :)
