Blog Worth

This is an odd little gizmo I stumbled upon whilst wandering around, although I suspect this number is vastly inflated.

My blog is worth $3,387.24.
How much is your blog worth?

If it's any consolation, mine was worth $0. Pretty much what I thought.

Since it's powered by Technorati, I would not be surprised if this "worth" measurement is a function of the number of blogs that link to your blog.

Since Objectivist bloggers are fairly rare and I happen to know most of them, I got kind of a head start in that regard.

It's ok. I'm not offended or anything.

The purpose behind my blog is to leave my kids a "diary" when I'm gone. I figure by the time I die I should have several books worth of reading material for them.

If my blog is ever worth something, that is just icing on the cake.

I wouldn't really expect my children (when and if I ever have any) to care one whit about my myriad day-to-day thoughts.

I've never really been interested in MY parents. I'm too busy living my own life.

I started thinking about this when my mother died a few years ago. While I never really respected her views on most issues (she was rather liberal), there are times I wouldn't mind being able to "access" her thoughts. Since she left no writings, her thoughts went to the grave with her. Think about that: The most valuable part of any human died, leaving no trace that it was ever here.

It is not that I expect my children to read my writings. But at least they will have a choice.
